What is HypnoBirthing?
HypnoBirthing®, The Mongan Method, is a philosophy and a program that is based on the belief that all babies should come into the world in an atmosphere of gentleness, calm and joy and that pain does not need to be a part of birthing when a person is properly prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually, and trusts her birthing body.
HypnoBirthing® eliminates the Fear-Tension-Pain cycle and offers tools such as deep relaxation, self-hypnosis, special breathing techniques, visualizations, affirmations, and education, in order to give the birthing person the confidence and peace necessary to birth her baby safely and with ease.
What will I learn from HypnoBirthing?
You will learn techniques for a safe, shorter, and more comfortable birthing through affirmations, guided imagery, visualization, and special breathing.
You will learn how to be aware and fully in control, but profoundly relaxed.
You will learn relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques to eliminate the fear of the unknown and to eliminate tension that causes long labors and suffering, replacing it with confidence, calm and comfort.
You will learn an understanding of the body’s natural process during labor, how to create your own natural anesthesia, and how to work with your body instead of against it.
You will learn how the different stages of labor require different levels of deep relaxation.
What are the benefits of HypnoBirthing?
HypnoBirthing® benefits births in hospitals, birth centers, home births, free births, and unassisted births.
HypnoBirthing benefits first time births and all subsequent births.
It eliminates the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome before, during, and after birthing.
It allows for the birthing person to be fully aware and fully in control, but very, very relaxed.
The birthing person is less tired during labor, refreshed, awake and energized as she brings her baby into the world.
It reduces, and often eliminates, the need for chemical anesthesia, episiotomy, and other medical interventions.
It shortens the thinning and opening phase of labor by several hours and allows the birthing person to utilize the natural pulsations of the body to breathe the baby down to the crowning stage, reducing risk of pelvic floor damage.
It brings the birthing person, baby, and partner together in a gentle prenatal, perinatal, and postnatal bonding experience.
It invites the birthing partner to be an integral part of the birthing.
Postnatal recovery is rapid and easier.
Babies tend to be better adjusted and happier, resulting in better eating and sleeping routines.
The birthing person does not run the risk of hyperventilating from shallow breathing.
Birthing is returned to the safe, beautiful, peaceful experience that nature intended.
